The Motion Picture was highly underrated in my opinion. And merch is hard to find. That ends with these fun pajamas styled to look like Admiral Kirk's uniform. (Which we all know looked like pajamas anyway!) An added plus is these pajamas are super soft and comfy. Also, all the details are part of the print so the braid and badge won't be bugging you while you sleep.
The waist size shown in the size chart is with the elastic band relaxed. They stretch comfortably about 4 inches. My son has a 34 inch waist and wears a medium.
The uniforms from The Motion Picture were a result of Robert Wise feeling like the original uniforms were an assault on the eyes. He could not understand how William Shatner, playing a captain, could allow somebody wearing a red shirt to enter the screen and capture all the visual attention. The result of that thought was the very understated and even more pajama-like uniforms of TMP.

Even though these are technically pajamas, they are really nice. I would not hesitate to wear them to a Trek event.
